This can save you a lot of time and help you win more business, and you don’t need to be a developer to use it.

Which areas of your marketing can you automate?

Luckily, Zapier has integrations with a range of marketing tools which span many different business functions.  Examples of common apps which can be integrated using Zapier are:

These are just a handful of examples but there are thousands more!

The types of marketing processes you can automate include the following:

  • Website processes.
  • Social media marketing and scheduling.
  • Advert processes.
  • Email marketing.

Now we will dive into each of these with some specific examples of marketing processes which can be automated using Zapier. 

What website processes can be automated?

Most businesses have a website and Zapier has integrations with many of the main builders and content management systems, including WordPress, Tumblr, Drupal and Webflow.

Managing websites can be time consuming, especially if you have a blog element.  It’s important to publish new content regularly and you can cut down on the manual tasks involved using automation.

Examples of website marketing processes which can be automated are:

  • Create a new WordPress post or add new media automatically.
  • Send a notification to your team via Slack or Gmail when a WordPress post has a new comment added.
  • Share Tumblr posts via Twitter image tweets.
  • Create rows in Google Sheets for new content in Drupal.
  • Create an invoice in your finance app (such as Xero) when a new order is received in Webflow.

As well as your website, you will likely have a Google Business listing if you have a physical location.  Zapier has a Google My Business integration which allows you to trigger an automation when a new review is received or you can automatically reply to reviews.

What social media marketing processes can be automated?

Most businesses use social media for marketing purposes and many associated tasks can be automated using Zapier.

Zapier has integrations with most of the leading social media platforms including Facebook Pages, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram.

Examples of social media marketing processes which can be automated using Zapier include:

  • Send a notification when your business is tagged on Instagram for Business.
  • Publish a new Instagram post when a new product is added to your Shopify or WooCommerce
  • Create a new Pinterest pin when a blog post is published in WordPress.
  • Post new WordPress blog posts on your Facebook Page.
  • Share new Facebook Pages posts to LinkedIn.

You can take it to the next level using social media scheduling tools such as Buffer, MeetEdgar, Hootsuite and Publer.  These apps take the pressure away from needing to post anything ‘live’.  You can choose which day and time to create posts and even repost from one platform to another.

There are plenty of social media scheduling workflows you can automate using Zapier, including:

  • Add new content to the MeetEdgar library when you release a new video on YouTube.
  • Create a Trello card when a new item is added to Buffer.
  • Create and schedule Instagram photo posts using Publer.
  • Schedule new RSS items on Hootsuite.
  • Thank new Twitter followers via Hootsuite.

What online advertising processes can be automated?

Many businesses use paid advertising to create leads and bring visitors to their website.  Examples such as Facebook Lead Ads, Google Ads, Instagram Lead Ads and even Tiktok lead generation can all be automated using Zapier.

Examples include:

  • Post content to Facebook Pages when a new campaign launches in Google Ads.
  • Add a customer to a customer list in Google Ads audience manager when someone signs up to your mailing list.
  • Add new TikTok Lead Generations leads to an Excel
  • Add a lead to your CRM (such as Pipedrive) when a new lead is created in Facebook Lead Ads.
  • Subscribe new Facebook Lead Ads to a Mailchimp mailing list.
  • Add an Instagram Lead Ads lead into a Google Sheet.

What email marketing processes can be automated?

Email marketing is extremely popular and most businesses use a platform such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite and Campaign Monitor to send regular emails to their leads and customers.

These apps can be connected to thousands of others using Zapier to automate email marketing processes.  Examples include:

  • When an attendee registers for an event in Eventbrite create a subscriber for them in Campaign Monitor.
  • When someone signs up for your Mailchimp list, add them as a new lead in Salesforce.
  • If someone fills in a Gravity Form on your website add them to your mailing list.
  • Add or update ActiveCampaign contacts for new Calendly
  • Add new subscribers to MailerLite from a Google Spreadsheet.
  • When someone fills in a specific form on your website you can add a tag in MailChimp to segment them into a particular audience.
